Visiti Chichen-Itza archaeological site, one of the new 7 wonders of the world. This is an immense area that has a surface of 300 hectares. This place is known as the City of the Water Sorcerers, the imposing site of Chichen Itza was the most important city in Yucatan’s northern lowlands, enjoying dominion over the surrounding areas and controlling the commerce of salt and other products. It represents 2 different periods of the Mayan history: one purely Mayan and other with Toltec influence, which is reflected in its architecture and sculpture. Buildings such as Pyramid of Kukulkán (El Castillo) are testimony to its past splendor.
The Castillo is considered the masterpiece of Mayan architecture, due to its mathematics, astronomical and religious significance. Continue to Ik'kil, a majestic cenote (a natural swimming pool) located just 3 kilometers from Chichen Itza. The cenote is open to the sky with the water level about 26 metres below ground level. It has about 60 metres in diameter and about 40 metres deep. Its surface is surrounded by vegetation, while you go down the stone stairs you'll find small balconies where you can see the beautiful surrounding, then arrive to a platform that gives you access to the fresh water, where you can see the small catfish living there.
Choose the option "Plus Ek Balam Excursion" and enjoy this incredible archaeological site. Ek Balam 'The Black Jaguar' has an area of 15 square kilometers, but its core is located in a walled area with more than 40 buildings. In South Square there is the Structure 10. This structure has large spaces for ceremonies and The architecture of this building consists in panels with cornice and is topped with a Postclassic temple. To the west of the square there is the Structure 17 , known as The Twins because the buildings are identical. The Structure 16 , also known as the Oval Palace is a palatial Room for the elite of the city and it has more than ten rooms . It also has a temple that had a ritual use .
