Learn the true "story" of Chicago's history and its amazing account of how a swampland located at the intersection of a lazy prairie river and Lake Michigan transformed into one of the world's leading "alpha" cities.  As guests stroll along on this walking tour, they listen to gripping tales of Chicago's history while viewing dozens of carefully chosen archive photos in their personal view books.  In addition to supplementing the tour guide's narrative, these photos help bring Chicago's inimitable history to life right before their eyes!Chicago History Tour Plus begins at 1:00 pm sharp at Peet's Coffee & Tea - Wrigley Building Plaza - 400 North Michigan Avenue.  While enjoying fresh coffee, tea or bottled water, guests listen to the "story" of Chicago.  Tour guides thoughtfully reveal how a "smelly" swampland transformed into one of the world's leading "Alpha" City in a mere 183 years.  Each guest is provided a view book filled with archive photos that helps bring Chicago's rich history to life

During this “Urban Safari”, guests learn about the history of Chicago while viewing some of the city's iconic architectural monuments located along the Chicago River.  After a stroll across Chicago's famous Michigan Avenue Bridge (now officially the Du Sable Bridge), guests are taken to the city's newly expanded River Walk featuring numerous dining and entertainment options.  In 2015, three new "rooms" were added to the River Walk including the Marina, Cove and River Theater.  In 2016, three additional rooms will open including the Water Plaza, Jetty and Boardwalk. The new River Walk promises to be one of the cities newest and best entertainment options for visitors and locals alike.

Along the River Walk, guests will hear and discuss gripping tales of Chicago's past including some of the following; Marquette & Joliet, Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable,Fort Dearborn Massacre, 1848 - "Annus Mirabilis", Illinois & Michigan Canal, raising Chicago, Chicago Watertower, Chicago Shipping and Sanitation Canal, Union Stockyards, Great Chicago Fire, skyscrapers and architecture, 1893 World's Fair, S.S. Eastland Disaster, Burnham Plan and so much more.

In addition, guests will view and discuss some of the following architectural gems; Wrigley & Tribune Buildings, Aqua & Aon Buildings, Trump Tower, Intercontinental Hotel & Hard Rock Hotels, Mather tower, Jewelers Building, Marina City, Wolf Point, River Point and 150 North riverside, Lyric Opera House and so many more.

And finally, after an exciting tour along the river, guests do not have to walk back to the start of the tour at the Wrigley Building but rather enjoy a short boat ride by Water Taxi included in the price of the tour!  Guests will enjoy a refreshing boat ride whil hearing more stories about Chicago's History, Architecture and Pop Culture.
