Enjoy an 8-hour adventure cycling through the South-Eastern part of Chiang Mai to explore Thai culture. You will ride through small communities, meet the locals, see food markets, Buddhist temples and pass by rice fields, vegetable fields and fruit orchards.Meet your guide at Moo Baan Nai Fun in the morning to gather your bikes. The route takes you over quiet country roads, and through small villages, where farmers work the rice fields, while their wives fill their days making terracotta. Stop at an old temple, where the oldest people from the village make flowers and garlands of paper and textiles, which are used during Thai weddings and Buddhist ceremonies.
Continue the ride to the rice fields making a short stop at a farm where mushrooms are cultivated. See women from a local village making rice crackers, banana chips, soy bean paste and other traditional Thai products. You can taste some of the local delicacies during the trip.
The lunch will be served at a typical local restaurant around noon. While the chef is preparing the food, you can stroll over the market next to the restaurant, and explore different goods that are available.
The journey continues, following the Ping River and over country roads. Have you ever wondered what is in the pieces of bamboo they sell alongside the roads? Here you’ll learn the answer as well as how many different variations there are. In this area, most of the farmers grow lettuce, cabbage, ore other vegetables.
After another nice ride, arrive at a small restaurant beside the water to taste a cup of local coffee or some herb juice. Visit a 700 year old Chedi, and see how the two styles, Lopburi and Burmese, are combined. After a stop at the local market, where you can sample some local fruits or snacks, head back to the starting point at approximately 4:30pm.
During the trip, take a break every hour for a short rest and drink. The stops and places of interest may vary depending on seasonal activities. This excursion will leave you with an unforgettable experience and memories of your stay in Chiang Mai which will last for a lifetime.
