Tour by comfortable car in a small group to Catania, the city made of lava from the neighbouring Etna volcano. With your local guide you will visit the most important sights, learn the amazing history, and walk through the magnificent streets and parks of Catania, "the black city".We will meet you at your location at a time convenient for you, and by a private car we will arrive in the historical center of Catania. The tour will start with a visit of the famous fish market, the biggest and the most colorful "pescheria" in Sicily, and probably even in Italy. You will see (and sure, can also buy) many many different kinds of fish and seafood, feel the unforgettable atmosphere of the national "folklore". Later we will walk to the Ursino Castle built in the 13th century as a royal castle of the Kingdom of Sicily.
After sightseeing the castle, the tour will continue along the main street of Catania which is Via Etnea, full of bars, restaurants and shops. Walking along this beautiful street, we will arrive to the Duomo square where you can see the Elephant fontain and also visit the jewels of Sicilian Baroque and UNESCO heritage - the Cathedral, the most important church in Catania, because inside there's a statue of Sant'Agatha, the saint patron of the city.
Later, following Via Etnea, we will arrive at Piazza Stesicoro, home of the Roman amphitheater. Later we will continue to walk and optionally may arrive to the best wine restaurant of Catania where you can taste different types of superb Sicilian wines and traditional food (meat and cheese delicaŃies, fresh bread, vegetables, olives and olive oil).
We will continue to Villa Bellini, wonderful big green park, full of beautiful plants, monuments, fontains, where you can see amazing botanic clock made of flowers. After visiting the garden, we will finish our walking tour in a confectionery (pasticceria) where you may taste traditional Sicilian desserts - cannoli with ricotta, granita with brioche, ice-cream, and other Sicilian "pasticcini", after which we will bring you back to your hotel or other location at your convenience.
