Capture beautiful coastal sights on this full-day trip to Catalina Island. Aboard a catamaran whose crew provides free-flowing drinks, sail along the southeastern edge of the Dominican Republic and up into the Chavon River. Admire the river gorge, tropical woods and the exclusive La Minitas Beach, part of the stately Casa de Campo resort. At ‘The Wall,’ discover a snorkeling paradise before the white-sand shores of Catalina Island put you into a blissed-out state for the afternoon. A buffet lunch and hotel transport from Punta Cana are included. After convenient pickup from your Punta Cana hotel, head to La Romana port with your guide for your full-day catamaran cruise. Listening to the music playing in the background, sip unlimited alcoholic beverages provided on board and soak up the sights as your captain sets voyage along the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic.

Sail past La Minitas Beach, one of the most exclusive beaches in the Caribbean, and part of the luxurious Casa de Campo, a 7,000-acre (2,833-hectare) seaside resort.

Reach the mouth of the Chavon River and as you cruise northward along the placid winding river, pass by the resort’s luxury villas and manicured golf course grounds. Capture views of a gorge and the dense tropical jungle flanking the river, and keep your eyes peeled for osprey, vultures and other birds. Along the way, learn about the history and geography of this region.

Then, return to the Caribbean Sea and head to Catalina Island National Park. Right before you reach Catalina Island itself, you’ll make a 45-minute snorkel stop at ‘The Wall,’ a drop-off reef zone considered one of the country’s most impressive snorkel and dive sites. Jump in with snorkel gear (provided) and be wowed by the colorful communities of coral and sponge that cover the top of the reef. Float along and observe brightly hued fish swirling around the area.

Next, step onto a private beach on Catalina Island and spend the afternoon however you wish. Swim in the warm turquoise waters, discover more snorkeling spots around the island, or simply relax, digging your toes into the powdery white sand.

When you get hungry, walk over to a barbecue buffet lunch set up on the beach, which typically includes white fish, pork and chicken, as well as salads, rice, potatoes, pasta and fruits.

When it’s time to leave this paradise, your catamaran returns sail to La Romana port, where you’ll board your vehicle back to your Punta Cana hotel.
