Discover the Cap Tourmente Bird Sanctuary, a national wildlife area located on the north shore of the mighty St. Lawrence River. Visit the old religious village of St-Anne-de-Beaupré, travel the picture Route de la Nouvelle-France, then savor local beer and total relaxation at the spa facing the St-Lawrence!Starting from Quebec City, you'll head east on the ''Route de la Nouvelle-France'', one of the oldest thoroughfares in North America. Arriving at 9:30am, take a short hike in Cap Tourmente, a national wildlife area made up of marshland, plains and forests, and located on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River.
Situated at the junction of the Canadian Shield, the St. Lawrence Lowlands and the Appalachians, the wildlife area also lies at the confluence of the Upper and Fluvial estuaries of the St. Lawrence. The territory offers contrasting landscapes shaped by the meeting of the river, large coastal marshes, plains, and mountains. It features a multitude of habitats that are home to a very wide diversity of animal and plant species. The wildlife area is home to more than 325 bird species, 30 mammal species, 22 types of forest stands and 700 plant species. Many of these species are at risk, including the Peregrine Falcon, the Bobolink, and the Butternut.
At 11:45am, you'll head to a local microbrewery for some fine food and amazing locally crafted beers. Using the names of the beers as a starting point, your guides will talk about the rich local history! Afterwards, travel to the heart of St-Anne-de-Beaupré to discover a unique modern art gallery, the famous basilica and a small park.
Your last stop will be at the Spa facing the St. Lawrence River for total relaxation and calm. Return to downtown Quebec City at 4pm.
