Some of the camels were adopted form the circuses and the others were born with us. They love carrots and you can feed them on the tour.Your camel tour begins as you arrive about 15 minutes early at the meeting point. From there, you and your group will leave together in one of the vehicles and arrive to the place where guides and animals are. The animals will be waiting for you and there, you will climb on to your camel. You can choose to take one of two tour options.
The Puerto Salina option has an Ocean view as you travel along side the beautiful mountains east of Puerto Salina. The Canyon of Rosarito option will start at the canyon and you'll visit this place.
When the camel rises you will simply lean back and you will feel the adrenaline as they stand. Don't worry, it is a very natural movement and part of the experience. You will have a horse with each camel leading the way on the tour. You will see an area untouched by modern times. They will begin walking beside the guides on their horses and continue for approximately 3 miles. You will stop at times for water and conversation and then continue. The camels are herd animals and they enjoy being together on these tours. The horses and camels live together so they know each other very well. You will now be ready to return to the starting point and the tour will be over.
You can feed the camels if you wish. There are treats for them that you can give to your favorite new friend. A camel lives for 55 years and they can cross the desert for 30 days without food or water. They use their blood for water and their hump for food. They are amazing animals.
