Khmer art has a long history and is very diverse: from lacquerware paining and stone carving to Silk weaving and Apsara dance. You will learn about all these forms of art and learn to determine quality. Shopping for some artwork is possible at all locations, but of course it's no obligation.

The tour leaves in the afternoon. First you will see the Artisans d' Angkor workshop. You are free to walk around and see the artists at work and learn how different art pieces are created using traditional methods. For example high quality silk painting, lacquerware painting, wood carving, stone carving, ceramic art, sculpting, silver work, etc. Shopping for some artwork is possible but of course no obligation.

Next you will visit a silk farm where you will get a tour of the farm and see how silk is created. It is a beautiful place with 5 acres of mulberry trees, which are used to feed the silk worm. The whole process of silk production will be explained, from cocoon unwinding to the ikat dye technique and silk weaving in different patterns. Everything is done in a traditional way, by hand.

The next stop is a art gallery that features modern art, inspired by the Khmer tradition. This Cambodian artist is a master is painting and lacquering and his artwork is a blend of modern and traditional techniques. His atelier is a traditional wooden house set in a tranquil garden. You can walk around and see some unique pieces from his private collection, as well as the gallery with art work that was created on site.

The last form of art you will see is traditional a Apsara dance performance at a 5-star location. Apsara dance dates back to the Angkorian times and still has a very important function during ceremonies. The Apsara dancers wear beautiful costumes and jewelry. Each dance has a special meaning. During the dance show you will see 5 different dances. The performance is outside in a beautiful intimate garden pavilion. You will be served a luxury traditional Khmer 4-course menu. In between the courses the dancers will perform. It is a very relaxing and romantic experience that you will take home as a wonderful memory.

The performance finishes around 9.30pm. Afterwards we will bring you back to your hotel.

There is also an option to visit Angkor Wat or another temple in the Angkor area in the morning prior to the art tour (if option selected when booking)
