Cruising the Coral Sea, or Pacific Ocean? If your Cruise Liner is docked in Cairns, or York's Knob, why not take a day trip to Kuranda and ride the Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. You'll also visit Rainforestation Nature Park, a 100-acre (40-hectare) tropical rainforest and World Heritage site located within five minutes of Kuranda village. This is the ideal cruise ship day trip from Cairns if time is of the essence. The ideal cruise ship day trip from Cairns terminal or Yorkeys Knob. If time is of the essence and you're visiting Cairns on a cruise ship, or looking for something to do that gets you back to your accommodation by around 4pm. This day trip includes pickup from either the Cairns or Yorkey's Knob cruise ports. We also do shuttle returns from your Cairns hotel accommodation. This wonderful day tour combines the famous Kuranda Scenic Railway, Kuranda Village, lunch, Rainforestation Nature Park and the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Experience both tropical scenery and historical information of both Australia's indigenous heritage and the pioneering railway creating a vital link from the coast into the mountains of the Cairns Highlands.

From Freshwater Railway Station and museum. You take in the hour long journey of majesty and beauty through the tropical mountain ranges between Cairns and Kuranda, built nearly 125 years ago.  After you disembark from the train, I'll meet you to take a tour of Kuranda Village itself. Take time to wander through this rainforest town and visit the butterfly sanctuary, pat a koala, or purchase your "quality" souvenirs at one of the many retailers in the street.

Next - Jump on the bus to the eco-friendly Rainforestation Nature Park. Hosts of  the award winning Army Duck Rainforest Tours (which includes the Tropical Fruit Orchard), Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience and Kuranda’s largest Koala and Wildlife Park. Enjoy a mouth-watering world famous BBQ buffet lunch as part of your package.

You can then take a guided tour along an all-weather walk-way modelled on the Rainbow Serpent which gives you a fascinating insight into aspects of aboriginal culture.  Try your hand at boomerang throwing, observe spear-throwing and hear your Pamagirri guide play the didgeridoo, an ancient northern Indigenous instrument. After your rainforest experience it's time to head back to Kuranda Village Skyrail Station.

Skyrail will take you on an amazing experience over Australia's World Heritage-listed tropical rainforest canopy and deep into the forest. You will also see an elevated view of the famous Barron Gorge and waterfall.

Your Skyrail experience should take approximately 1½ hours and includes spending time at the two rainforest mid-stations. Allow 20 minutes for each station, to enjoy guided boardwalk tours, and visit the Rainforest Interpretation Centre, lookouts and historical displays before meeting your guide again at the bottom of the skyrail in Cairns for your return trip to the Cairns and Yorkey's Knob cruise ports, or your Cairns accommodation.

This package allows you to explore all of the above at a pace that gives you time to experience this diverse scenic wonderland along with souvenir markets, cafes, restaurants, and galleries, before your bus picks you up later in the afternoon for your return to your cruise ship or hotel, no later than 4:15pm
