Make your own way to the Danube Palace in central Budapest according to whether you've chosen a 6pm or 9pm cruise. Meet your friendly host and walk to your boat moored nearby for your cruise on the Danube River.
Settle in the cozy cabin, complete with festive decorations, and enjoy the river views as you sip on a complimentary glass of Champagne. Then, as your boat sets off, absorb the candlelit atmosphere and gaze at Budapest’s glittering skyline as it slips by.
Your cruise includes a delicious 3-course buffet dinner of typical Hungarian dishes. As you sail, savor the tempting selections and enjoy the scenery through the picture windows. Please see the Itinerary for a sample menu.
Watch for the city’s famous riverside sights, many of them awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1987. All are beautifully floodlit on winter evenings, making Budapest look especially romantic at this magical time of year. Admire the monument-packed Castle District, home to Buda Castle, and glide past rocky Gellért Hill with its illuminated Liberty Statue, as well as other landmarks. Your boat will also sail past magnificent Parliament House and under the monumental Chain Bridge, both sparkling with lights.
Move on from your Champagne to an included glass of wine, beer or soft drink. As you relax, a group of musicians from the Hungária Folk Orchestra will strike up and fill the boat with traditional folk songs, adding to the festive cheer. After dinner, perhaps head for the open upper deck to take in the sights in the open-air and enjoy additional drinks from the on-board bar (own expense).
After about two hours, relish the Christmastime city from the water one last time as your boat returns to its starting point, where your cruise ends.
