Enjoy a full day guided visit from Barcelona to the heart of Catalonia: the top bird watching experience in Llobregat Delta Natural Reserve combined with either a visit to the magic Mountain of Montserrat or a Cava trail with tasting in a renowned cava winery.
The visit starts with pick-up in Barcelona and transfer to the Llobregat River Delta Natural Reserve where a biologist will conduct an amazing guided visit to discover this natural environment, a paradise of green next to Barcelona’s international airport (lagoon, ponds, wet meadows, river mouth, pinewood, wild beach...) instructing about the flora and fauna along the way.
The path is peppered with hidden observatories (wooden walls and lookout towers) equipped with binoculars and a land telescope to enjoy wildlife without interfering. Aided by a printed guide of birds the visitor will always be able to spot the different species within a very interactive and dynamic visit. At the end of the itinerary a herd of friendly Camargue water horses will come to greet the group.
After a whole morning of wildlife observation, photography opportunities, scenic views and plane spotting (Airbus A380 will land over our heads) it will be time to head for the following destination according to your choice:
Option A: Montserrat
After a drive to Montserrat Monastery you will enjoy lunchtime in this magnificent environment (own expense). Then all the hidden wonders of this Sanctuary will unveil in the quietness of the afternoon: the Basilica, the works of art, the medieval statue of the Black Madonna, and the spiritual and cultural relevance of the Benedictine congregation for the people in Catalonia.
Option B: Freixenet
After a drive to Sant Sadurní d’Anoia (the world’s capital of cava) you will enjoy lunchtime in a typical Catalan restaurant (own expense). Then you will be instructed on the tradition and science of sparkling wine production through a guided visit along the galleries of one of the world’s leading brand. The visit will end with a cava tasting, and of course a toast to a wonderful day.
