Start peddling toward the Cerro da Vila Museum. Along the way, watch the photogenic cityscape pass you by. See historic points of interest like Roman ruins and old villages with cobblestone roads, plus a dose of beach scene on this dynamic bike tour. With Roman origins dating back to the first Century, Vilamoura could not be better situated for exploring the sea resources and commercial routes. This area was also occupied by Arabs whose influence can still be seen in Vilamoura. To better understand the history, visit the Cerro da Vila Museum.Visitors can enjoy the Marina, bars, restaurants, quality hotels, leisure facilities, casino and beautiful beaches and, of course the golf and its prestigious golf courses, water sports such as jet skiing, sailing, windsurfing, diving and fishing. We start cycling to the Cerro da Vila Museum and from the road we can observe evidence Roman occupation. The tour continues, crossing the Marina of Vilamoura, one of the best European Marinas towards Quarteira. Enjoy the nice weather, blue sky, the smell of the sea, the breeze in the face, the feeling of freedom that cycling gives you. Arriving in Quarteira, we pass the fruit and fish market, places that are a ‘must’. The Parish of Quarteira was established in 1916 and today is known primarily for its fish and beaches. The fishing art is a well-known and appreciated aspect of the town of Quarteira, making it a natural tourist attraction. In addition to fishing, the regional sweets are also of interest. After seeing the markets, we cross the second largest boardwalk of Europe made of Portuguese cobblestone. Enjoy how good it is to cycle so close to the beach. At the end of the Quarteira Boardwalk, we make a short stop to recharge batteries. Return to inner Quarteira and the next stop is the Old Village. Here feel a kind of "Miniature Portugal", where everything seems to be on a small scale. Inspired by Portuguese 19th Century architecture, you will find cobblestone roads and very well appointed gardens, surrounded by golf courses, making it very peaceful area.
