You’ll meet your guide in your hotel lobby, and then we will bring you to Hangzhou. Once you get to Hangzhou, you will start your bike tour.
Hangzhou is located 200 kilometers southwest of Shanghai. Hangzhou is also known as one of the most romantic cities in China because of its West Lake. Hangzhou was an important city in China’s history because it was the southern terminus of the Grand Canal, which led to its trade flourishing.
Once in Hangzhou, we will bring you to the West Lake, Hangzhou’s most famous site. The West Lake is a fresh water lake that is divided into five sections, and covers a total of 3,323 hectares. Along its banks are several temples, pagodas, garden, and islands.
You’ll admire flower harbor and red carp pond, before we take you to a local restaurant for an authentic Chinese lunch to fuel you up for some more riding. Make sure to ask your guide what the Hangzhou specialities are!
Next we will bring you to the Six Harmonies Pagoda, or Liuhe Ta, a beautiful multi-story pagoda which was constructed in 970 AD during the Northern Song Dynasty. It was destroyed in 1121, and reconstructed in 1165. Today, it features a small exhibition explaining the architecture, designs, history, culture and symbols associated with the pagoda.
After this the tour ends and we will bring you back to your hotel in Shanghai.
