The walking distance is about 14km. If you don’t feel like walking that much you can avoid 3 of the hikes and wait for the group in a nice place. In this case the km of walking will be only 7km (more info in the “Tour in details” section).
Difference in altitude: 450 meters. Number of stops: 5 (6 if we stop swimming). Km in the car: 90 approx (less then 2 hours).
1st stop: Prokopske Valley
We will leave BIKO shop and after a short drive (15 minutes) we will park already and we will walk in a natural park famous for its cliffs and views on Prague and of course we will enjoy both.
2nd stop: The forest center
When a local wild animal has a problem it is taken to the forest center just outside Prague where veterinary can take care of it.
3rd stop: Amerika Canyon (The Czech Grand Canyon)
This former quarry is now a picturesque gorge that hides a sunken lake.
4th stop: Karlstejn castle
Karlstejn is an amazing large gothic castle in perfect conditions, built upon a promontory, wanted by Charles IV in 1348. We will spend 2,5 hours in the area and you have the following options:
– Skip the walk and enjoy the many cafes and restaurants of the castle area.
– Go for the 1 hour guided tour of the castle although we don’t recommend visiting the interieur as its beauty is in the external part. You can anyway enter the castle walls for free and it is very nice.
– Walk to the the best possible view point of the castle. Then go down to the castle area and have food and enter the castle walls. This hike is around 2,7 km on natural trails with some ups and downs.
5th stop: The monastery & the rock
Svaty Jan pod Skalou in Czech means St. John under the Rock. It is a monastery built at the base of a 100m sheer cliff. The location is peaceful and bucolic. Some people consider it one of the most beautiful and peaceful places of our country.
Swimmining option for hot days
People from Prague know very well that when it is hot, there is nothing better than to swim in the Berounka river.
6th stop? Prague!
It is time to go home tired and hopefully very happy!
