The morning focuses on the legendary mountain passes with the afternoon focusing on the famous lakes.The day starts at 9.30am in central Windermere, by driving north along the shores of Lake Windermere, the largest lake in England at 10.5 miles long, towards Ambleside. From here you travel along the Roman Road through the dramatic Langdales and onto the infamous Wrynose and Hardknott passes.
After ascending over the passes you continue on to Wastwater, the deepest lake in England, voted 'Britain's favourite view'. Your next stop is for lunch at the Fox and Hounds at Ennerdale Bridge, a community owned pub (lunch at own expense). You continue on through Buttermere and ascend Honister Pass passing by the famous Honister Slate Mine through Borrowdale and onto Keswick.
On the return to Windermere you visit the 4000 year old Castlerigg Stone Circle and drive alongside Ullswater 'the most beautiful lake in England' before ending the tour back in Windermere.
