On this full-day wine tour, you'll capture the essence of Istria by using all your senses, including tasting traditional flavors and enjoying the finest Istrian wines. Discover the wine and dine heritage of Istria, which makes it an exceptional destination for all wine lovers and gourmands.The tour departs in the morning for Grožnjan. On the way to Grožnjan, there is a cozy winery with an owner who gave his heart and soul to produce fine wines, which have since been awarded international recognition.
This winery is the first stop, where guests will visit the wine cellar. Here you will become familiar with the technology and process of wine production, taste five different wines and enjoy a snack of bread, Istrian prosciutto, cheese, and olives.
Next, guests will visit Grožnjan, a hilltop town that is the artistic heart of Istria. With narrow streets, stone houses, an abundance of flowers, art galleries and ateliers, it's a marvelous and mysterious place.
From Grožnjan, you'll visit the second winery, famous for being the only winery in Istria where wine matures not only in wooden barrels but also in real amphoras! The vineyard and winery have been in the same family since 1891. Every wine enthusiast will be delighted with their elegant and sophisticated wines, which are presented worldwide and guests will have an opportunity to sample these wines.
Here, you'll explore the winery (cellars, amphoras) and a small museum. Wine tasting includes two different wines with a snack (Istrian prosciutto, sheep’s milk cheese, Istrian bacon, olives and olives oil) and one dessert wine, Momjanski Muškat with Istrian sweets.
Following will be lunch in a typical Istrian 'konoba', a type of family-owned restaurant offering traditional and local dishes such as homemade pasta, a rare Istrian beef called boškarin, wild asparagus and truffles.
The last wine tasting will be in one of the most famous Croatian wineries. Here, family tradition combines with modern technology and from an autochthonic grape variety comes the finest wines. The winery and vineyard are beautifully situated on the slope and their new wine cellar and tasting room represents a visionary type of architecture.
You will be given a guided tour around this impressive winery, followed by tasting five of their wines with a snack of cheese and dried fruits.
The tour ends with a return to your accommodation.
