Pick up at 8:30am from your hotel to visit the Temple of Heaven where the Ming and Qing emperors performed their ritual ceremonies. The best time to visit it is in the morning to see the local seniors exercising , practicing Tai Chi, playing Shuttlecock, doing ground calligraphy as well as singing and dancing.
Liulichang Street
You can visit Liulichang Culture Street which is known throughout China and the world for its ancient books, calligraphy, paintings, brushes, ink stones and other traditional Chinese handicrafts. You will see a series of Qing style buildings, which is one of Beijing’s traditional old quarters. You will also watch painters and calligraphers working their craft.
Jingshan Park
From the top of this a man-made hill you will have a panoramic view of the Forbidden City and downtown Beijing which protected the Chinese people from evil and wind from the north. You will learn that for Chinese people, it is more famous than the place where Ming Emperor Chongzhen hung himself in 1644 which marked the end of the Ming Dynasty.
Imperial Lunch
The Imperial Lunch will be served in Fangshan Restaurant located inside the oldest imperial park in Beijing, Beihai Park. You will savor the dishes that were eaten by the Qing Emperors hundreds of years ago. After lunch, you will board the Imperial Boat and head to the north exit of the Beihai Park.
Houhai and Yandaixiejie
You will start from Houhai, one of the two most popular pub streets in Beijing with many traditional buildings and a beautiful lake. Your professional will explain the history and changes of the old part Beijing. He will also take you to a typical Siheyuan (Courtyard House), the most typical house in the past. You will then walk to Yandaixiejie, which is one of the oldest hutongs in Beijing with many traditional boutiques.
Drum Tower and Hutong Family Visit
You are going to go up the Drum Tower and watch the Drum Beating ceremony as well as having a panoramic view of the old Beijing. You will then go for a rickshaw tour around the Hutong and visit a local family. The Hutong family where you will learn to make one of the most typical Chinese handicrafts, such as snuff bottle inside painting, mask painting, clay figurine making, paper cutting, calligraphy and playing Chinese yoyo.
