Visit hutongs (alleys) of Beijing to experience this aspect of Chinese history that reflects the culture of grassroots Beijingers. Thanks to Beijing’s long history and status as capital for six dynasties, almost every hutong has its anecdotes, and some are even associated with historic events. Take our bike tour to travel to the hutongs in the heart of Old Beijing.During this tour you won't be taken to popular and touristic hutongs. Instead, you'll see the real local life of the native people nowadays. The hutongs chosen for this tour are the most characteristic ones. You’ll pass through Daowan Hutong, which the narrowest part, which is only two-arm-long wide and has nine turnings. Then, you'll pass by the Former Residence of Lao She (one of the most famous writers in 20th century) and take a look inside the courtyard and rooms, which are furnished exactly like 50 years ago.
Bike through Fuxue, Wangzhima, Xiao Xiguan, Daowan hutongs, and Longfu Temple morning market, and then pass by the NAMOC (National Art Museum of China), the Memorial Hall of Mr. Lao She. Then, we’ll bike through local hutongs again heading for Jingshan Park to have a Bird’s Eye View of the Forbidden City and the city of Beijing; To end this perfect tour, you can taste the traditional Chinese dumpling at Mr. Shi's Dumpling.
After lunch, you will be transferred back to our hostel in downtown Beijing.
