Come join this tour to visit some of Beijing’s most iconic sights: the Temple of Heaven, pandas in Beijing Zoo, and the Lama Temple with its intricate Tibetan thangkas, cast and carved Buddhist images. Meet your guide at your hotel in the morning to visit the visit the Temple of Heaven, which is an icon of the capital city. The Temple of Heaven was a sacrificial complex for annual harvesting ceremonies during both the Ming and the Qing Dynasties. You can learn more about this in the museum accompanying the iconic temple. On top of that, the surrounding park is vast and also offers the opportunity for you to watch locals exercising in the morning.
After that, you will be taken to a Silk Factory where the tour guide will explain the process of silk making: from the silkworm to the finished product. Your guides can also help you explain how everything is made, and it’s the perfect place to get some souvenirs for friends and families at home.
The next destination is the Lama Temple, the most celebrated Buddhist temple in Beijing and a temple of the Geluk School of Tibetan Buddhism. It is one of the largest and most influential in China, and was the only temple to have been said to have survived the Cultural Revolution, and only reopened to the public in 1981, enjoy the Tibetan thangkas, the traditional paintings on cotton or silk which depicting the Buddhist deity, scene and mandala.
Following your visit to the Lama Temple, you will have lunch in an authentic Chinese restaurant.
The final stop is to see the giant pandas at the Beijing Zoo, where you’ll be able to see the endangered giant panda in real life. Did you know that giant pandas spend about 12-38 kg for bamboo everyday to get all their nutrients? You will have lots of fun there.
