Check-in at the front desk and borrow a lock and put your belongings into a locker. Your kayak guide will greet you and outfit you with a life jacket and paddle. Your bottoms will get wet from splashing of your paddle so please bring an extra pair of bottoms to change into afterwards.
At 7:30pm, the tour group will form a circle in the green park at the entrance of the boathouse. The average size of the tour is 10 people. Your guide will show the group how to do basic kayak strokes and safety protocols. After 10 minutes, everyone will hop onto a single or double kayak and launch into our protected embayment to practice what you learned. No swim or kayak experience is required.
As the sun sets, your guide will take the group out into the Hudson River and head north or south depending on water currents. Behold the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, VIA Pyramid, Freedom Tower, Goldman Sachs Tower, Jersey City and Hoboken skylines, George Washington Bridge, Statue of Liberty and Trump Towers. On some days, you may see a full moonrise or a crystal clear crescent moon.
After 45-minutes on the Hudson River, the group will paddle back to the Boathouse. The time will be approximately 8:30pm. You will get out of your kayak and can use the shower, changing and locker rooms at your disposal. We provide plastic bags for your wet bottoms. There will be a vibrant garden and night lights on the back deck and you are welcome to relax there or continue onward with your night.
