Choose from a morning or afternoon departure, and then meet your guide and small group in central Barcelona to begin your 50-mile (80-km) bike tour. Hop aboard your electric bike: a two-wheeled bicycle with an electric motor. Listen to a safety briefing, then strap on your helmet and set off behind your guide. The pace is leisurely and avoids main streets, allowing you to listen to your guide and take in the sights as you cycle.
Soak up the architecture and scenery as you ride along the narrow, winding streets of the Gothic Quarter (Barri Gotic) to Barcelona’s buzzing waterfront. Traverse the maze-like streets of La Barceloneta and gaze out over the shimmering Mediterranean Sea as you cruise by the city’s long beach, stopping every now and then to take photos and learn more about the city’s history. You’ll also pass the Catalonian towns of Badalona, Montgat, El Masnou and Alella.
After around 1.5 hours, arrive at Alta Alella Winery in Serralada de Marina Natural Park. Meet with one of the winemakers, hop off your bike and head out into the vineyards. As you stroll amid the vines, learn how the area has a rich viticulture heritage, with wine having been produced here since the time of the Ancient Romans. Then, head inside the winery’s buildings and cellar to learn about the organic farming and winemaking process.
Following your tour of the winery, take part in a guided wine tasting. Sample three types of wine, paired with local delicacies. Savor the delicate bouquet of flavors in each wine and pick up tips on how to identify the varying aromas and ingredients.
When your tasting is over, hop back on your electric bike and enjoy a leisurely cycle back to Barcelona, where your tour concludes at the original start point.
