Spend your time in port in Barbados on a walking tour of historic Bridgetown — the capital of Barbados and a UNESCO World Heritage site! With a knowledgeable guide, you’ll pass by several top attractions and historical buildings, including St Mary’s Church, Bridgetown Jewish Synagogue and St Michael’s Cathedral. See Queen’s Park, and admire the Parliament Buildings and other landmarks in National Heroes Square. Your shore excursion ends with lunch and time to shop for souvenirs. Round-trip port transport is included. When your cruise ship docks in Barbados, meet your shore excursion guide at the port and begin your 2-hour walking tour of Bridgetown, the largest city on the island. Your tour takes in several monuments and historical religious sites, starting with St Michael's Cathedral. First built in the mid-1600s, the cathedral was destroyed by a hurricane and later reconstructed to hold 1,600 seats.

Then see the Bridgetown Jewish Synagogue, built in 1654 and beautifully restored in the late 1980s after being abandoned for almost 50 years. Next continue to St Mary’s Church, a Georgian-style building that dates back to the mid-1800s. Admire its barrel-vaulted ceiling and clock tower.

Next, walk with your guide to Queen’s Park, a national park that’s home to the baobab, one of Barbados’ largest trees. Learn about the park’s solar house and various art installations before continuing to National Heroes Square, formerly known as Trafalgar Square.

Located at the center of Bridgetown, National Heroes Square features 10 Bajan heroes, from cricket stars to leaders of slave revolts. You’ll also see a bronze statue dedicated to Lord Horatio Nelson, considered a hero in Barbados' battles against France, who controlled several Atlantic and Caribbean islands in the early 1800s. And on the square's north side, admire the Parliament Buildings, which contain the Senate and House of Assembly.

When your walking tour ends, spend approximately one hour enjoying lunch, drinks and optional shopping in the city before your guide drops you off back at the port.
