Barasu and Hatoma Island Snorkeling Tour Including BBQ Lunch

Take the ferry from the Ishigaki Port to Uehara Port on Iriomote Island in the morning. When you arrive, a local guide transfers you to the tour office where you will have time to prepare for your snorkeling trip, including a change of clothes if necessary.

Travel back to the port, hop into the boat for the trip to Barasu Island, a very small island entirely made out of dead coral that is sometimes completely submerged at high tide. Take time to enjoy the breathtaking views of the ocean surrounding the island before snorkeling above diverse corals teeming with many types of subtropical fish. Keep an eye out for marine life including sea turtles and manta rays that inhabit the waters around the Yaeyama Islands.

After your snorkel tour, your guide delivers you to another stunning spot off the coast of Hatoma Island (location depends on the weather). After another about 40 minutes of snorkeling, you’re returned to the port of Hatoma and then taken inland for a delicious barbecue lunch.

Fortified with your meal, enjoy approximately 1.5 hours of free time to explore Hatoma village on your own — it’s enough time to cover plenty of ground on the small island, including a beach visit. Then continue with your guide to a final snorkeling spot (usually off the coast of Iriomote) to experience some more of the area's coral reefs.

Your full-day snorkeling adventure ends with return transport back to the port on Iriomote. At the tour office you have time for a shower and a change of clothes before taking the ferry back to Ishigaki, where you will arrive in the evening.
