Built directly into a cave, the façade is covered with carvings of animals and demons. Next it’s on to the natural spring waters of the Tirta Empul Temple, thought to have purifying properties and neighbored by the country’s presidential palace. Enjoy a delicious buffet lunch overlooking the crater of the Kintamani Kintamani volcanic area, formed by a massive eruption thousands of years ago.
After lunch, relax your muscles in the warm natural hot springs of Toya Bungkah, home to many wading pools. Coffee lovers will get a kick out of a visit to the Bali Pulina Coffee Plantation, where you will learn how some of the world’s most expensive coffee is grown, produced and sold. Don’t miss the stunning natural scenery surrounding the plantation.
Continue on through the countryside, stopping at the Tegalalang Rice Terrace for amazing views of local rice paddies. These terraces take decades to build and are an ancient way of growing and producing rice, an important staple. After enjoying the scenery you’ll head off to the Monkey Forest to learn about conservation efforts aimed at protecting the long tail monkey, a species revered by locals. Your guide will drop you back off at your hotel at the end of the day.
