Today, the Memorial, which was founded in 1947 by the Polish government and added by UNESCO to its list of World Heritage Sites in 1979, is devoted to the memory of the murders that took place during World War II.You will start the tour with a private transfer from your hotel or accommodation in Krakow to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. Once you reach the complex, you and your group will be on a self-guided tour throughout the camps. The first camp you will see is Auschwitz I and then you will proceed to the second camp, which is Birkenau. Many of the original buildings are still standing, along with stand-alone historical displays that show visitors the scope of what tragically occurred. After the tour your driver will drop you off at your hotel or any place in Krakow's city center that you prefer.
