Auschwitz is located on the outskirts of the Polish town of Ośiwięcim, approximately a 1-hour drive from Krakow. A documentary about the camp will be shown on the drive there, and the guided tour will be with an English-speaking guide, who will tell you more about the tragedies of World War II and the many lives lost at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
In addition to the two main camps, Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, there is also a state museum, established by the Polish government in 1947. There are many artifacts on display here, including personal possessions of the prisoners that were brought here. The museum also researches the Holocaust and is devoted to the memory of the individuals who were murdered there.
