Acropolis of Athens Tour (1.5 Hours)
Meet your guide at the prearranged location in central Athens, then set off at a leisurely pace along the tree-lined streets to the UNESCO-listed Acropolis of Athens — the ancient citadel and archaeological site that dominates the city.
Make for the south slope of the acropolis to avoid the main crowds, then pay your entrance fee and head inside. On the way, visit the Theatre of Dionysus, a 5th-century amphitheater often cited as the birthplace of the performing arts, and the Dionysus Sanctuary, a site dedicated to the Greek god of wine and fertility.
Inside the acropolis, ascend the sacred hill, stopping to see and learn about important sights such as the world-famous Parthenon, Propylaea gateway, Erechtheion and the Temple of Athena Nike, a monument built to represent Athens’ ambition as the most powerful Greek city.
At the top, take in sweeping views of the city and listen as your guide shares knowledgeable insight of the citadel’s ruins. Then, hear more about surrounding monuments such as Mars Hill, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Philopapos Hill and the ancient agora — a meeting place that once served as the heart of ancient Athens.
Your tour concludes at the acropolis' summit, leaving you free to continue exploring the site at your own leisure.
Greek Cooking Class in an Athens Tavern (3 Hours)
Make your own way to the start point in Athens’ Monastiraki district, and then walk to a beloved local eatery with your host. Head inside to meet your chef, and start the lesson with a glass of raki while chatting with other food-lovers in your group.
With your chef at your side to show you how traditional Greek cooking is done, prepare and cook an authentic meal consisting of four starters and one main course, using fresh herbs and spices. Dishes vary each class, but typical specialties that you may make include melitazanopitakia (eggplant pies), roasted lamb, tzatziki and Greek salad.
At the end of the class, sit down with your group to enjoy the highlight of your evening: eating the feast that you’ve created with your own hands. Relax with wine and chat about cooking tips and Greek cuisine with your group.
Please note: These two tours may be taken on the same day or across any two days during your vacation — it’s entirely up to you.
