Herðubreið, Iceland's national mountain. A short stop is made at Herðubreiðarlindir, an oasis in the desert. The Drekagil gully is explored before driving into the Askja caldera where the group will park next to craters from the 1961 eruption. From there, you walk to Lake Askja and Víti, an explosion crater formed in 1875. The hike to Askja Caldera is around 30 minutes easy walk each way. In 2014, the Holuhraun lava fields were formed in a massive eruption in central Iceland and this tour takes you near Vatnajökull Glacier, the biggest glacier in Europe. This tour is an extensive exploration to the Iceland Highland where you experience the true power and beauty of Iceland's nature.
