Enjoy a picnic lunch, fascinating history, and a snorkel at St. John's premier snorkel site among colorful corals with sea turtles, dozens of starfish, and colorful marine life. This tour offers a unique, in-depth look at one of the most preserved sites within the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, the Annaberg Plantation ruins, and a chance to explore one of the best snorkeling spots the island offers at Waterlemon Cay. The tour begins at the VI National Park’s Visitor Center in Cruz Bay, St. John. There, you will learn about the history and functions of the park before boarding the taxi that will take you to the Annaberg Plantation.
Upon arriving, you will learn all about the history of the ruins — from the pre-colonial to post-colonial, right up to the present day. The ruins have been carefully preserved and interpreted through the efforts of the park and provide a glimpse into the lives of the people who once lived there—both the free and the enslaved. You will then hike to Waterlemon Cay through a portion of the National Park. Your professional guide will lead you on a snorkel tour from the shore to Waterlemon Cay where you will explore the sandy spit beach on Sandy Cay and learn about the marine life surrounding you.
Next, enjoy a picnic lunch on a hill overlooking the scenic North Shore, sitting among stone walls and ruins. After lunch, hike back to Annaberg where a taxi will bring you back to the Visitor Center in Cruz Bay to conclude the tour.
