When it comes to exploring the ancient Khmer capital of Angkor, one of the most remarkable and impressive sights in all of Asia today, few things can top the experience of cycling beneath towering fig trees among a thousand years of Khmer history. The Angkor empire's regional power was unmatched for much of its 600 years, and under a number of its so called 'god-kings' such as Jayavarman the 7th, the artistic exploits of the Khmer kingdom were unrivaled.
One of the most remarkable facets of Angkor is that it is located at the heart of a bustling Khmer countryside community. And with the town of Siem Reap only a short ride away, and numerous farming communities scattered around the historical park, you will be able to catch a glimpse of the rural life of ordinary Cambodian people going about their everyday life in this extraordinary place.
After exploring the temple grounds you will leave the crowds behind and turn off the main tourist road to Banteay Srei, visiting Banteay Samre on the way. Make a stop at Roulous, home to some of the earliest permanent structures built by the Khmers, and continue your journey on a boat tour (not included) of the floating village of Kampong Phluck before heading back to Siem Reap.
On this 3-day tour you will cycle the total of 78mi (126km) over the course of two and a half days. A support truck will travel behind the group to support you and other enthusiasts can cycle as much or as little as you'd like and still enjoy the same views as the rest of the group.
