While in port in Amsterdam, see the city's highlights like a local on this private shore excursion. This 4-hour walking tour with a local guide takes you to the Jordaan district, the famous Albert Cuyp street market and the Museum District, home to the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. Learn about Amsterdam's houseboat culture at the Houseboat Museum, wander the largest street market in the Netherlands, and enjoy a typical Dutch snack from a 'window', and while enjoying commentary from your guide in the language of your choice.
When your cruise ship arrives at the Amsterdam port, you'll be greeted by your private local guide at the cruise terminal. Hop on the tram for a ride to the Jordaan district to begin your 4-hour city tour.

Once a working class area, Jordaan is now an upscale hub full of students, art galleries, specialty shops and markets, in addition to some of Amsterdam's top attractions, including the Anne Frank House and West Kirk (West Church). Your guide will take you to the Houseboat Museum for a look at the story behind the city's houseboat culture. You've probably seen the slew of houseboats lining Amsterdam's canals, and now you'll get to see what it's like to live inside of one!

Then, walk to Leidseplein, an area full of bars and restaurants. Here you'll try a typical Dutch snack from a 'window' — unique vending machines that sell hot food like burgers and kroket (fried potatoes). It may sound odd, but it's a must-try!

Your next stop is the Museum District, where you'll find the Vondelpark and numerous world-famous museums including the Van Gogh Museum and Rjiksmuseum.

Finally, head to Albert Cuyp, the largest street market in the Netherlands. A favorite of locals and tourist alike, Albert Cuyp is home to a delightfully dizzying array of vendors selling everything from fresh produce and cheese to cosmetics and clothing.

After your time at the Albert Cuyp market, you'll be taken back to the Amsterdam cruise port.
