Race aboard a 12 Meter America’s Cup contender! Aboard the 12 Meter racing yachts, your professional and friendly crew will coach those interested in a 'hands-on' sailing experience. Participation is not required, and no sailing experience necessary. Fun for sailors of all ages!Have you ever dreamed of racing an America's Cup yacht? This 3-hour racing experience gives you the opportunity to sail and race aboard the America's Cup 12 Meter yachts that raced in the America's Cup. Feel the exhilaration of sailing aboard a 70-foot yacht while racing contenders and setting out full speed ahead.
While leaving Newport Harbor the captain will introduce the crew, explain safety instructions, and tell about the boat’s history. Although sailing experience is unnecessary, the captains will assess the participants' sailing knowledge and experience to ensure each person has the best possible sail. Before racing, the captain and crew will coach the team through racing maneuvers in preparation for the big competition!
Aboard the 12 Meter racing yachts, your professional and friendly crew will coach those interested in a 'hands-on' sailing experience. Although the crew is always there to assist, your team will be grinding and trimming the sails and even calling race tactics. Complete one race, which will include a rabbit start and be a two leg race. Use a main sail and jib sail while racing.
Although you're welcomed to participate, it's never required; if you want, you can simply sit back, enjoy the sights of Newport and experience the cool wind in your face as you cruise.
At the conclusion of races, the 'dock talk' begins (congratulations and heckling). Which team was able to sail their America’s Cup 12 Meter to victory?
