Join this day trip to visit Amarbayasgalant Monastery for an unforgettable cultural experience as well as soaking up beautiful scenery and landscape of north central Asia.
You will be picked up from your centrally located Ulaanbaatar hotel at 9 o’clock and be driven to the complex of Amarbayasgalant Monastery which was built during 1727-1736 in honor of Under Gegeen Zanabazar, the first Bogd of Mongolia. It is situated in the cul-de-sac of a long and deep valley backed by the sheaf cliff of Burenkhan Mountain against which the monastery was built.
The valley is well-watered by the Evin River and has long been renown for its rich vegetation in this arid part of north central Asia. it is covered throughout its extent with Turkic-era graves of various geometric shapes marked out in large boulders. These important archaeological features which date from the 3rd to 7th centuries are an indication that the valley has long-standing sacred associations for the people of Mongolia which continued uninterrupted into the Buddhist era when they were revitalized by the construction of Amarbayasgalant Monastery on this historic site.
Lunch will be served at a local nomad family. In the afternoon, you may enjoy beautiful tranquil awe inspiring scenery and also hike to Tsetsee Gun, the highest point of the Bogd Mountain in the National Reverse Park. At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel where this day trip concludes.
