The entire city center is crammed with colonial buildings from the 15th and 16th centuries. On this tour you will not only visit the most important historical buildings but also some museums and a fascinating cave. "Los Tres Ojos" is the first stop where you will see a cave learn about Taino Indian life.
From your Punta Cana hotel you will be transported to Santo Domingo. The first stop will be at "Los Tres Ojos" a limestone caves containing a series of three lakes. Here you will learn about the Dominican Republic's first inhabitants - the Taino Indians.

Next, you will go directly to the Columbus Lighthouse, built in 1992, on the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus's landing in the New World. Then off to the oldest streets of the Western Hemisphere located in Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone. Be ready to walk and take pictures along the Colonial Zone starting at the Columbus Palace. Completed in 1514, this was the home of Christopher Columbus's son, Don Diego. From the Palace the tour will go through the historic Plaza de Espana and on to Calle Las Damas (the first paved street of the New World). Keep walking to the National Pantheon where heroes were laid to rest. The colonial tour will culminate at the First Cathedral of the New World.

After the colonial tour you can enjoy lunch at a typical Dominican restaurant where you will taste a local menu feeling the energy of the local music and folklore.
