As we take off you say goodbye to the city sights and fly over the magnificent Godafoss waterfall as we head towards Lake Mývatn, a breathtaking natural spectacle that fascinates scientists from around the world with its numerous attractions, such as Krafla, Namaskard, Hverfjall and pseudo craters, before starting our journey into the true highlands of Iceland. Our highland experience will begin by seeing the majestic Highland queen, Mount Herðubreið, as we fly towards Askja volcano. After exploring the hot springs of Askja we turn towards the north side of Vatnajokull glacier, the biggest glacier in Europe and onward to Kverkfjöll mountain range, a currently active volcanic site.
On the homeward journey towards Akureyri, sit back and take in the view of Ódáðahraun, the vast lava desert, and Holuhraun, the most recent lava field in Iceland.
