Your adventurous day in the Dominican Republic’s great outdoors begins with a light snack and a guided 30-minute horseback ride to Los Haitises National Park. Upon arrival, you'll take a leisurely 40-minute walk through the park to the mouth of Fun Fun Cave.
At the cave, your guide will assist you as you repel 20 meters (65 feet) down to the base to explore the cave’s West Indian rock art and the tunnels and river that flow through it. The majority of the day trip will be spent here, exploring and learning the history of the cave. You'll marvel at the many stalactites, stalagmites and lava columns while walking through the river inside the cave. Once you're at the end of the cave, you'll come out into an area of lush vegetation and large boulders.
Enjoy a quick beverage break before riding your horse back to where you started. Here, you'll have the option to swim in the nearby river. Then, enjoy a much-deserved lunch of Dominican Republic favorites, including a national drink.
Note: Wear a swimsuit and bring a towel if you choose to get in the river.
