Then head to the park, which is located west of Central Station. It was the Westergasfabriek, a gas plant using coal to produce electricity for street lighting, and it is now a place for cultural avant-garde businesses and events.
In the middle of the park, there is a huge fountain and, in summer, people come here to lay on the grass and just relax, or to have a picnic with their friends .
Behind the Wester Park, there are gardens where Amsterdamers grow their goods and come in summer to have barbecues or take a rest and try to forget a little bit about the crowded city center. What makes this place even more gorgeous is the typical Dutch windmill in the middle of these gardens - a great photo opportunity.
