Day 2 Tainan-Kenting (B,L,D)
Drive to Kenting to visit Maopitou (Cat Nose Tip) and Oluanpi Light House.
Followed by an afternoon free to enjoy the beach. At night, the main street of
Kenting comes alive with an outdoor market, pubs and restaurants.

Day 3 Kenting-Taitung City (B,L,D)
Explore Taiwan’s indigenous culture in Mudan, home to the indigenous Paiwan
tribe. Head to Taitung to an abandoned sugar refinery that was transformed into
an indigenous handicrafts center selling glass beads of Paiwan. After dinner,
go to Tiehua Village, a live music venue.

Day 4 Taitung-Changbin Township (B,L,D)
Explore the Taitung coastline to visit Jialulan, a park that features a
collection of locally produced driftwood art installations. Keep going to
Xindong Sugar Refinery Culture Park in Dulan. Then visit Donghe, a mecca for
surfers. Lunch at an indigenous Amis fishing village. Enjoying the last rays of
sun over the coastal mountains in a locally run guesthouse in Changbin.

Day 5 Changbin Township-Hualien(B,L,D)
Firstly visit Changbin Catholic Church. Then, go to Dagangkou, an Amis village and
Cixingtan Beach fishing area. Next to this beach is a museum devoted to
introducing the area’s heyday as a wood fish (katsuo) product processor and
exporter.

Day 6 Hualien-Taroko Gorge (B,L,D)
Visit a Truku community and a museum devoted to the disappearing tradition of
facial tattooing. Visit Swallow Grotto in the spectacular Taroko Gorge to walk
a narrow road through twisting tunnels. It is also the point where the gorge is
at its most narrow and the waters of the Liwu River are at their fastest.

Day 7 Taroko Gorge-Taipei (B,L)
Hike the Shakadang Trail, members of the indigenous Truku tribe grow bird’s
nest fern, an ingredient in indigenous cuisine, and the aquamarine waters of
the Shakadang River flow. Visit an Atayal tribal community in Nanao Township of
Yilan County. Return to Taipei along the Suhua Highway and through the Xueshan
Tunnel, arriving Taipei at about 7pm.
