Day 1: Cusco City Tour – Surrounding Archeological Sites
You will be picked up from your hotel to start the city tour which includes a guided visit to the convent of Santo Domingo. Later, you move on to the rest of the archeological sites located just outside the city of Cusco. The sites you will stop at include Sacsayhuaman, Q’engo, Pukapukara y Tambomachay.
After, return to spend the night in Cusco.
Day 2: Sacred Valley of the Incas – Ollantaytambo - Chincheros (B,L,D)
You start your second day with a guided tour of the Sacred Valley of the Incas where you see the little town of Pisaq and its handicraft market and plaza. Continue to Urubamba for an exquisite lunch buffet. Then, head to the tourist center of Ollantaytambo where you see the important archeological remains of the region. Next, go to Chincheros, another tourist center and colonial town to visit the church and plaza.
Day 3: Soraypamp – Chaullay or Collpapampa (B,L,D)
On this day, nature will change drastically from the dry scenery to snowy peaks and tropical areas. First, go uphill to the highest point, located halfway between two huge mountains. Salkantay on the right and Tucarhuay on the left. From the pass, the views of the two snow-capped mountains are incredible. After lunch, hike to the second campsite.
Day 4: Chuallay - La Playa - Santa Teresa (B,L,D)
Walk through the upper jungle crossing the Lluskamaya River and a variety of little brooks to reach La Playa. Today, you will have wonderful views of all types such as waterfalls, tropical fruits, plants and as soon as we are at La Playa. Head to Mollepata so we go to Santa Teresa where you camp in a warm climate. After a rest, go to the host springs and enjoy well-deserved soothing water.
Day 5: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes (B,L,D)
You leave your campsite at Santa Teresa and cross the Santa Teresa Bridge. Continue walking, passing a variety of crop plantations including cocoa, bananas, etc. After lunch, head about two and half hours along the train road until reaching Aguas Calientes town where we spend the night in a hostel. In Aguas Calientes, you can take advantage of the thermal springs.
Day 6: Full-Day Machu Picchu (B,L,D)
You start the 1 hour ascent to Machu Picchu on foot or by an optional bus to the trance. Appreciate the breathtaking sunrise as you continue with a two hour guided tour of this historical and magical place. After the guided tour, there is free time to explore the site more in detail. You head back to Cusco via Aguas Calientes.
Day 7: End of tour (B)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and scheduled transport to the airport.
