This 6 day Kakadu and Beyond Tour takes you to all of the Top End's highlights plus hidden secrets off the beaten track. Day 1 Darwin - Kakadu (L,D)
Board a Corroboree Wetland Cruise to view local wildlife and bird species, and maybe an elusive crocodile. This experience is a great introduction to the local environment. Enter Kakadu and visit the Bowali Center for your first real introduction to Kakadu National Park. This travel north to Kakadu's most renowned cultural site, Ubirr Rock, for an amazing cultural expedition through ancient occupational shelters, and view rock art that documents an Indigenous culture and lifestyles spanning thousands of years. Climb to the stunning Nardab Lookout and remain to witness a typically inspiring Kakadu sunset.
Day 2 Nourlangie Rock & Jim Jim Falls (B,L,D)
Hike around Nourlangie Rock and encounter some more rock art and bird life at the nearby wetlands. Take the 4WD track to Jim Jim Falls through Kakadu stone country. Walk into Jim Jim Gorge and the falls in the afternoon and absorb the peaceful quiet of this stunning landscape as the sun drops to reveal its striking colors.
Day 3 Twin Falls & Arnhem Land (B,L,D)
Travel the remote tracks of Kakadu, crossing Jim Jim creek, before arriving at the Twin Falls Escarpment and Gorge. Hike to the top of Twin Falls and explore the beautiful remote nature of the Arnhem Land Plateau. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the pristine and croc free waters of Kakadu. Return to Twin Falls Gorge and take a cultural cruise before a short hike to the waterfall and picnic lunch in the Gorge. Tonight witness one of Kakadu's more secret and stunning sunset lookouts.
Day 4 Barramundi Creek & Maguk (B,L)
Today, negotiate the 4WD track into Maguk to arrive at a lush tropical setting. A short hike along Barramundi Creek amongst the tall paperbarks and monsoon forests will bring you to another of Kakadu's inviting waterfalls and plunge pool. Surrounded by tropical vegetation nestled among the contrasting stone country, the waters of Maguk are not only a visual and photographic delight, but also incredibly enticing.
Day 5 Kakadu - Katherine Gorge (B,L,D)
Today, paddle through the spectacular Katherine Gorge. With an average gorge wall height of around 180-meters, the gorge makes for a spectacular journey and an exhilarating and tranquil experience. There are clean sandy beaches, crystal clear water, and abundance of birdlife, fish and freshwater crocodiles. Enjoy a swim and a picnic before heading to camp.
Day 6 Litchfield - Darwin (B,L)
Experience a full fun day of hiking, swimming and snorkeling in Litchfield's absolute tropical paradise. We visit and indulge ourselves in all of Litchfield’s big name attractions and features such as; Wangi Falls, Tolmer falls, Buley Rockholes, Florence Falls, and of course our fascinating termite supported ecology with their striking and unusually designed and built structures. Late in the afternoon head for Darwin and arrive around 6pm and return to your accommodation.
