Your route takes you along Braulio Carrillo National Park, a untouched wonderland of waterfalls, rivers and dense rainforest. About an hour later, reach Rainforest Adventures Costa Rica Atlantic, an ecotourism reserve. A private sanctuary spanning 1,174 acres (475 hectares), Rainforest Adventures shares a 6-mile (10-km) border with Braulio Carrillo and serves as a buffer between the park and agricultural lands. Your 6-in-1 pass gives you a flurry of activities to enjoy the animal and plant life thriving in the rainforest.
Aerial Tram After a multimedia presentation on the reserve’s preservation efforts, take an 80-minute ride in an open-air gondola with a naturalist guide. Spot plants and birds in the high and sub-canopy you’ll typically don’t see from the forest floor. In the hanging gardens, you'll discover colorful flowers and different shades of greenery, with your guide explaining all you need to know and pointing out where to glimpse wildlife.
Bocaracá Nature Trail On this easy 45-minute walk with a naturalist guide, take pleasure in studying the rainforest from the ground up. Enjoy more time to take pictures, search for wildlife or just wander around. A sloth might be munching away, a tapir may meander across your path, or you may glimpse the bright yellow slither of the eyelash viper.
Zipline Dial up the thrills and fly through the treetops! Keep your eyes open as you make your way through 10 cables and 14 platforms amid lush mountain scenery. Cables range in length from 262 to 459 feet (80 to 140 meters). You’ll receive a safety briefing and guides are on-site to ensure your safety.
Adrena-Line Think you got the hang of ziplining? Then test your courage: Shoot along the newest and longest cable in the region — 2,297 feet (700 meters) long — and reach speeds of 34 miles per hour (55 km per hour). Don’t worry, you’re only 197 feet (60 meters) above the ground.
Hanging Bridge Conquer all fear of heights by walking across a suspended bridge over the rushing Molinete River. In the freshwater below, see if you can spot the silver streaks of the machaca, a local fish.
Butterflies & Frogs Garden Blue morphos, blue jeans, red-eyed black and green frogs are just some of the species you’ll see in this open-air garden covering 2,150 square feet (200 square meters). As a guide walks you through the netted area, note the butterflies in various stages of development and ask any questions you may have.
Feeling hungry? Purchase lunch at the restaurant on-site serving traditional fare and a buffet. After your memorable day in the Costa Rican rainforest, enjoy transport back to your hotel.
