Day 1:
We start the week with a classic Cairngorm route: over Cairngorm and around the rim of the Northern Corries. We start by taking Cairngorm's finest and much overlooked north ridge. With stunning views down across Glenmore, Loch Morlich and the Caledonian pine forest of the RSPB's Abernethy National Nature Reserve.
1000m of ascent and 10 miles (16km) on mountain paths with some moderate gradients and rough walking. Approx walking time excluding breaks: 6:00
Day 2:
We climb Ben Nevis via Carn Mor Dearg and its famous arête. As we ascend The Bens’ massive north face comes into view. The cliff scenery opposite is unsurpassed as we climb to the 4000 ft plus summit of Carn Mor Dearg.
1520m of ascent and 10.5 miles (17km) on mountain footpaths with some steep gradients over rough terrain. A reasonable head for heights is required Approx walking time excluding breaks: 7:00
Day 3:
This is a rest day, a day to yourself, a chance to explore the local area under your own steam; pop up to Inverness for the day; or simply relax. The options are numerous: you could hire a bike or take a leisurely stroll to the nearby RSPB Osprey Centre and beautiful Lochs Garten and Mallachie. Alternatively you could take the Steam train or follow the Speyside Way to the equipment shops and café’s of Aviemore. We top the day off with a fantastic meal out at our local restaurant, Anderson's, a few doors up the road.
Day 4:
Scooped out by glaciers, Creag Meagaidh's elongated Coire Ardair forms a huge elongated amphitheatre. Bound by 3 Munros, we take a route around this tremendous feature following its airy perimeter to complete another classic horseshoe on the giant of the vast Monadhliath wilderness.
1286m of ascent and 12 miles (19km) on mountain footpaths and rough ground with some moderate gradients. Approx walking time excluding breaks: 7:00
Day 5:
The Perthshire landscape is dominated by the complex Beinn a’Ghlo, the Mountain of the Mist. This massive and complex mountain is said to sport nineteen coires and links its three munro's by an airy walk along a wonderful snaking ridge. 1300m of ascent and 14 miles (22km) on mountain footpaths and tracks with some moderate gradients.
