It was largely destroyed in the war of 1860 but was restored to its original foundations in 1886. The natural landscape of hills and open water combined with the artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges form a harmonious ensemble of aesthetic value.
Once you arrive at the Summer Palace, you will enter from the East Gate of the palace and visit some of the most important buildings, such as the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity, it takes you back to the time when the emperors built these places as a route to heaven; The Hall of Happiness and Longevity, it was the residence of Empress Dowager Cixi during her stay in the Summer Palace; The Long Corridor, it is a covered walkway in the Summer Palace; The Marble Boat, it is an ornamental structure in classical Chinese landscaping; The Hall of Dispelling Clouds, it is situated on the central axis of Longevity Hill and is the heart of a succession of buildings used for celebrations.
