Hike through Kam Shan country park otherwise known as Monkey Hill, observe troops of Rhesus Macaques as they go about their daily life. Hike part of the famous Maclehose trail before stopping at Shing Mun Redoubt, historical World War II relics, part of Gin Drinkers Line. Here you have the option to explore the tunnels named after famous London landmarks. See nature and history just a few minutes ride away from the heart of Kowloon. This hiking tour offers choice of morning (9:30am) or afternoon (1:30pm) departure.You will meet your hike leader at Prince Edward MTR Station Exit D concourse level at 9:30am (afternoon tour is at 1:30pm). Then, a bus journey of 15 minutes is required to reach the hike starting point. You will start with a gentle ascent first (500m spread out over the whole hike), and the entire hiking distance is 12 km.
Monkeys - Troops of Macaques can be seen playing and preening as you gently wind your way up the hill. You will be offering great photo opportunities which you will be allowed time for.
Further along the hiking trail, you will come across the British Military Defensive Line: ‘The Gin Drinkers Line’. This was built between 1936 and 1938 to defend Hong Kong against invasion from the Japanese. It includes bunkers, underground trenches and machine gun posts which can be explored with the aid of a torch. From here you will follow a section of the famous Wilson Trail known as Smugglers Ridge to the end of the hike. A bus short bus journey is required to return you to Prince Edward MTR.
