Day 1 Darwin - Kakadu & Ubirr (L,D)
The first adventure today is the Corroboree Wetland Cruise. Venture out onto these vast wetlands to view the local wildlife, huge amounts of bird species, and of course the elusive crocodiles. This experience is a great introduction to our local environment, and just a taste of what is to come. After our cruise, enter Kakadu and visit the Bowali Center to collect your Kakadu Park entry tickets and have your first real introduction to Kakadu National Park. Travel north to Kakadu's most renowned cultural site, Ubirr Rock. While at Ubirr be guided on an amazing cultural expedition through ancient occupational shelters, and view rock art that documents an Indigenous culture and lifestyles spanning tens of thousands of years. After your cultural journey through time, climb to the stunning Nardab Lookout and remain to witness a typically inspiring Kakadu sunset over the expansive Nardab floodplains.
Day 2 Nourlangie Rock & Jim Jim (B,L,D)
Start the day with a hike around Nourlangie Rock and encounter some quite different rock art, then the nearby wetlands to view some of Kakadu's 250 bird species. Continue on the 4WD track to Jim Jim Falls while the imposing Kakadu stone country begins to close in. Hike into Jim Jim Gorge in the afternoon and make your way to the falls. While everyone else leaves the gorge, the group remains to absorb the peaceful quiet of this truly stunning landscape as the sun drops to reveal its striking colors.
Day 3 Twin Falls (B,L,D)
The journey this morning begins with a 4WD expedition, travel the remote tracks of Kakadu, crossing Jim Jim creek, before being confronted with the Twin Falls Escarpment and Gorge. Upon arrival hike to the top of Twin Falls and explore the beautiful remote nature of the Arnhem Land Plateau. While here you have an opportunity for a refreshing swim in the pristine and croc free waters of Kakadu. Afterwards we return to Twin Falls Gorge and take a cultural cruise with the traditional owners of Kakadu, before a short hike to the waterfall and picnic lunch in the Gorge. On the return journey back to camp there is time for another short walk to one of Kakadu's more secret lookouts, for a last view of the surrounding Twin Falls and Jim Jim Falls Escarpments.
Day 4 Maguk & Kakadu - Darwin (B,L)
Today, negotiate the 4WD track into Maguk to arrive at a lush tropical setting. A short hike along Barramundi Creek amongst the tall paperbarks and monsoon forests eventually brings you to another of Kakadu's inviting waterfalls and large plunge pool. After absorbing this tropical paradise take the alternative 4WD track through central Kakadu headed towards Darwin. Stop on the banks of the South Alligator before arriving back in Darwin, returning to your accommodation.
