We start our 4-day adventure by riding from the gateway to the Khan Khenty National Park, through a spectacular land of wooded mountains and exceptional granite formations, and over a quiet pass to the valley of the Terelj River. Here, we will get the chance to experience nomadic life firsthand as we camp next to local families and their Ger, and help out with their every-day chores.
Day 2
On our second day we will ride along the beautiful Tuul river to visit a giant 141 ft (40m) silver statue of Genghis Khan before reaching the riverbanks where we set up camp and overnight amongst willow trees.
Day 3
After a hearty breakfast we ride to Janchivlan Hill and enjoy the freedom of cycling off road all day. We camp near a nomadic family and share a delicious, traditional dinner with our friendly hosts.
Day 4
On our fourth and last day we will visit a live 13th Century museum where we are required to leave behind any modern life items upon entry. There is also an option to use a horse or camel and pay a visit to an ancient town nearby before your transfer to Ulaanbaatar.
We cycle the total of 130.5mi (210km) over the course of four days on this trip, mainly on rough off-road jeep tracks. There are river crossings, mountain passes and long grassy valleys, with a few technical sections.
This moderate trip, sure to be full of enjoyable surprises, is suitable for riders with some mountain biking experience, and a support vehicle travels behind the group to support us, so riders with less experience can always get a lift if necessary while also enjoying the same views as the rest of the group.
