Day 1: Auckland - Waitomo Caves – Rotorua
Travel through the lush farmland of the Waikato and King Country regions. On arrival in the small town of Waitomo, tour with a local guide through the world famous Waitomo Glow Worm Caves with their amazing stalactites, stalagmites and other limestone formations. Finish with a silent boat ride through the Glow Worm Grotto – a subterranean cavern lit by thousands of tiny glow worms. Later, enjoy a picnic-style lunch served on board the coach as we cross the Central North Island – and enter Middle-earth! Just outside the rural township of Matamata is the private farm that was transformed into The Shire for Sir Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Visit Hobbiton, home to Bilbo, Frodo and friends, and find out how the sets were created with a guided tour. The tour continues to Rotorua.

Day 2: Rotorua Sightseeing
The first stop on your tour is Te Puia, one of New Zealand's foremost cultural venues. Immerse yourself Māori tradition, see master carvers and weavers at work, then enter the neighboring Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley – an extraordinary landscape of geysers, steam and bubbling pools of boiling mud. See New Zealand's national bird, the world famous kiwi, at Rainbow Springs Nature Park. You can also get up close to a wide range of native and exotic birds, fish, reptiles and other animals. Then get a taste of New Zealand's agricultural industry at the Agrodome, a working farm where you can see all kinds of rural action! See sheep-shearing and watch sheep dogs being put through their paces in this entertaining and informative show about farming in New Zealand. Your tour concludes with a one hour lunch cruise around Lake Rotorua on board a historic paddle boat, the Lakeland Queen. Tonight enjoy a unique Maori Hangi dinner and concert on a local Marae.

Day 3: Rotorua – Auckland
Spend a day at leisure in Rotorua. Later travel back to Auckland.

Day 4: Farewell from Auckland
The tour concludes this morning after breakfast. You’ll be transferred to Auckland Airport to connect with your onward flight.
