This January Vintage Surfari Wagons is doing it again, they're priming the fleet for their 4th Annual Buses by the Bridge Epic Camp Tour. Journey on this 5 day run with experienced VW guides and fellow 'off the beaten path' travelers to Buses by the Bridge and the Lake Havasu Balloon Festival. Now in it's 20th year, Buses by the Bridge attracts amazing VW rigs from all over the country to Lake Havasu Arizona, home of the famous London Bridge.

This January Vintage Surfari Wagons is doing it again, they're priming the fleet for their 4th Annual Buses by the Bridge Epic Camp Tour. Journey on this 5 day run with experienced VW guides and fellow 'off the beaten path' travelers to Buses by the Bridge and the Lake Havasu Balloon Festival. Now in it's 20th year, Buses by the Bridge attracts amazing VW rigs from all over the country to Lake Havasu Arizona, home of the famous London Bridge.Day 1 - On the first leg of our collective journey we'll travel east to Joshua Tree National Park where dramatic landscapes are framed by chaotic boulders piled in majestic formations and giant gangly Joshua trees stand guard throughout the high desert. Feel free to take a hike in and around the Disney-esque environs at Sheep Pass Campground, and watch a spectacular desert sunset. Then head back to camp to join your fellow VDubbers around a "communal" table and imbibe a sophisticated opening night nosh prepared especially in your honor!
Day 2 - After partaking in a hearty breakfast we'll break camp and head out of Joshua Tree via Twentynine Palms to historic Route 66. We'll stop for photo ops at Amboy, home of the famous Roy's Motel & Cafe, and then continue on to our main destination - Lake Havasu State Park and the Buses by the Bridge event.Upon arrival at Lake Havasu rub elbows with all manner of VW enthusiasts, check out some really cool rigs, buy a tie died t-shirt (you know you've always wanted one), and experience quintessential VW road trippin' at it's best. Once we are all settled in at our special destination, feel free to explore all that Lake Havasu has to offer.
Day 3 - During the day enjoy wandering amongst an incredible mash-up of VW models from nearly every year of manufacture. The Buses by the Bridge event organizers will once again present evening raffles, VW awards, a Corn Hole Tournament on Saturday afternoon and all kinds of VW goodies up for grabs at the daily VW swap. In the evening you'll find a profusion of bonfires and hootenannies welcoming your participation. The 6th Annual Havasu Balloon Festival & Fair will be in full swing during the weekend. Stroll through the balloon field and chat with the pilots before they take off.
Day 4 - Sunday morning we will wrap up this ode to the classics with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Boy Scouts of America! After we're done fueling our furnaces, we'll break camp and head southwest. Our destination... Palm Springs and the seriously hip Ace Hotel where we will indulge in this Mid-Century Modern inspired desert oasis complete with its two big pools, vintage photo booth, communal fireplaces, organic-bohemian interior spaces, free WIFI and gym. The Ace is also the best place in Palm Springs to get a laid-back massage or natural treatment at the Feel Good Spa, by the pool or in your room. Oh, and just a short jaunt from our hotel is legendary downtown Palm Springs!
Day 5 - Check out time is 12:00 pm at which time we will be departing the Ace Hotel and Palm Springs. We'll make one final stop on our way back to Costa Mesa at Hadley's Fruit Orchard where we'll introduce you to their scrummy date shakes - they'll power us west to our final destination, Vintage Surfari Wagons' headquarters, where it will be time to say our goodbyes to new found friends.
