This tour includes Windmills, castles, fortresses and UNESCO architecture.
Total 3,5 hour (1,5 hours to drive, 2 hours to view the sights).
This tour includes the following sights (clockwise), and will guide you through the spectacular Dutch countryside, the new planned district of Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht Science Park, Utrecht Oost with it’s stately mansions, and parts of down town medieval Utrecht and it’s gorgeous canals.
Slot Zuylen
Slot Zuylen Castle’s history of the castle starts in the 13th century. Whilst retaining many of its medieval castle-like features it was converted into a country mansion in the 18th century. Slot Zuylen opened its doors to visitors 60 years ago and has meanwhile acquired museum status.
Westbroekse Molen & Buitenwegse Molen
Right next to eachother just outside Utrecht are these two windmills that both still occasionally serve their purpose in keeping the land dry (in addition to the electric pumping station).
Both windmills have been fully restored recently and between the two mills is a monumental lock.
Kasteel de Haar
De Haar Castle is the biggest and most luxurious castle of the Netherlands. With its towers, turrets, moats, gates and suspension bridges, it resembles a true medieval castle.

Fort Rijnauwen
Fort Rijnauwen is the largest fortress in The Stelling van Utrecht which consists of 16 fortresses north, east and south of the city and is part of the New Dutch Water Defence Line.
This 19th century line of defence was built to protect Holland’s largest from enemy attacks from the east.
Rietveld Schröderhuis
