Pick up from your hotel in Marrakech and drive to Ouarzazate. Stop at Aït Benhaddou: this fortified Ksar is a world heritage site that has featured in several movies and series like Gladiator, The Mummy and the Game of Thrones. All the walls within the Ksar are made of mud; it’s like a sand-castle rising from the top of a hill. It’s really a breathtaking block of buildings that witnesses the pre-Saharan construction architecture. In the series, Aït Benhaddou is presented as the slave-trading vicinity of Yunkai. The producers were not so far off because Ait Benhaddou once used to be a marketplace for human sale.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Marrakech (122 miles / 196 km / 2.45-hour drive)
After having breakfast at your hotel, meet your local guide and start a half day tour of the Ouarzazate. Places to visit are the international cinematographic studios where several movies and series had been shot including Game of Thrones series.
The city is presented as Pentos. This location has already provided the basis for the Pentos scenes in season 1. In season 3, the producers returned to Ouarzazate to film some scenes that acquires the unsullied army.

Day 3: Marrakech – Essaouira (236 miles / 380 km / 3-hour drive)
Breakfast at your hotel and departure for Essaouira, approximately 3 hours, this small Atlantic coast town with its whitewashed port was originally established by the Portuguese in the 16th century. A panoramic stop before arriving into town provides an overview of the endemic Morocco product of Argan oil. Visit the women cooperative and see how they extract oil from the crushed nuts of the Argan tree. In Game of Thrones, Essaouira is Astapor, it’s the home of the Unsullied. Almost all the scenes of the Game of Thrones were filmed in the Scala which is an old Portuguese fortification.
